What is a Pediatric Occupational Therapy and how can it help my child?
A pediatric Occupational Therapist/OTR, works to develop, improve, sustain, or restore the child's abilities and functions so they may be more independent in the performance of purposeful activities in their daily lives. Working from a developmental model, the OTR is trained in the art and science of directing a child's response to selected activity and/or play. These interactions promote the development of skills and abilities which have not been learned or developed previously, or facilitate the redevelopment or relearning of lost skills or behaviors. This medical professional possesses the knowledge of early neuromotor, pschosocial, sensory motor integration and visual - perceptual motor development and dysfunction.
